ENGS pupils Stella Aromäki, Patricia Ivanitskiy and Melina Nyberg from 5B as well as Ava Linden 7A, Maria Riikonen and Onni Lapington from 7B participated in a 3D Modeling and Printing camp at Aalto University FabLab in cooperation with the MITCity Scope platform, advised by Dr Timo Nyberg.
The workshops took place on three consecutive Sundays from September 10th to 24th under the guidance of Jason Selvarajan along with the valuable pedagogic help of Alan Tudor, Juha Kyllönen and Päivi Huhtinen. Junyi Sun from Oulu University monitored the whole process to produce a curriculum for the use of later MIT City Scope sessions for bigger crowds groups. The experiment also contributes to ENGS Phenomenon based week program that will take place November 20th to 25th.
The purpose of the event was to teach 3D modelling and to develop the curriculum. The students learned much about 3D modelling and about a powerful modelling tool, Fusion software.
The days were sometimes long with so much to learn, but luckily there was pizza for lunch! The pupils made a lot of progress and were also able to help each other in installing and using the software and creating new designs. Considering it was the first time, this was quite a feat!
Let’s have a look at the cool stuff they did!
